The South East Business Innovation Centre (SEBIC) manages the Halo Business Angel Network (HBAN) for the region. They generate quality investor ready deal flows for their community of investors and provide a platform for companies to meet genuine investors seeking to invest cash for equity.
HBAN is a partnership between Enterprise Ireland, InterTrade Ireland and the Irish Business and Innovation Centres (Irish BICs) in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Waterford.
HBAN actively works to increase the number of angel investors involved in investing in early-stage companies and supports the formation of new and existing angel networks, both regionally and internationally, and within industry sectors.
Angel investors are high net worth individuals, invest in early stage or start-up companies in exchange for an equity ownership interest. Angel investing in start-ups has been accelerating. high-profile success stories like Uber, WhatsApp, Facebook and Storyful in Ireland have spurred angel investors to make multiple bets with the hope of getting outsized returns. They are increasingly investing alongside both seed venture capital funds and government agency funding in Ireland.
